*NEW* Applications to the CGDF can be submitted year round. They will be assessed as they are received. At this point, gardens wanting to build in 2018 must get their application in by the end of March 2017.
In 2016 the CGDF received a higher volume for funding requests than ever before. As such there were many gardens that are fantastic projects that were unable to access funding in 2016. These gardens are the priority for receiving funding in 2017. Applications received during 2017 will be assessed on an ongoing basis, as opposed to a single deadline each winter. While it is likely that most gardens applying in 2017 will only receive funding in 2018, it is possible that there will be some funding available for gardens where all approvals from landowners are completed. We are also seeking sponsorship opportunities for 2017 gardens to help fund as many gardens as are ready.
Prospective gardens will have different needs for land access approvals depending on who owns the land the garden is seeking to use. Gardens wishing to build on City-owned land will take longer to approve. For those wishing to build on City-owned land up in 2018, we strongly recommend you get your proposal in by the end of March 2017.
Those interested in building on National Capital Commission Urban Lands, the NCC is conducting a pilot garden in 2017. Just food will provide an update at the end of 2017 on the status of opportunities for further gardens.
