Multimedia Design Specialist - Canada Summer Jobs

Type: Full-Time Contract
Anticipated Start Date: May 26th 2025 [Interviews to begin May 5th]
Time Commitment: 35 hours per week for 10 weeks
Compensation: $18.20/hour
Location: Hybrid in Ottawa, Ontario (on location requirements at 2391 Pepin Ct, plus at various businesses/farms as needed)
Language: Fluent in English, Intermediate French a requirement (need to be able to edit software translated text for public communications; read emails in French and respond using software support), priority given to bilingual candidates.

Position Summary:
We are seeking a creative Multimedia Design Specialist to create visually compelling and engaging multimedia content to support our programming and communication strategies. In this role, you will be responsible for generating short video and graphic content to amplify the storytelling of our organizational work and history, as well as featuring small local food businesses as support for community economic development. You will collaborate with multiple teams to design and deliver innovative content that aligns with our organizational identity and goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Website updates:
- Building upon existing website GoodFoodLink.ca to expand and support information/resource sharing for food-related access/events/jobs etc across the region
- Content Creation & Design:
- Develop high-quality multimedia assets, which can include graphics and interactive content for use across various platforms (web, social media, print, and presentations).
- Design and edit promotional materials such as infographics, brochures, banners, and advertisements.
- Create visually engaging user interfaces and experiences for digital platforms.
- Video Production & Editing:
- Plan, shoot, and edit video content for marketing campaigns, tutorials, and promotional materials.
- Brand Promotion:
- Ensure all designs and multimedia content align with Just Food’s branding guidelines and visual identity.
- Maintain consistency across all visual assets and campaigns.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with various project leads to understand goals and translate ideas into engaging visuals.
- Provide creative input during brainstorming sessions and campaign planning.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience in Multimedia Design, Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field.
- Proficiency in multimedia design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere Pro), Figma, or any similar software.
- Strong knowledge of basic video production and editing tools.
- Excellent attention to detail, creativity, and a strong visual sense.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication, organizational and collaboration skills.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and content optimization for digital marketing.
- Ability to work collaboratively across diverse communities, fostering inclusion and relationship-building.
- Experience using Google Docs, Sheets, and PowerPoint (or similar tools).
- Experience in WordPress considered an asset.
- Ability to resolve conflicts in a positive and professional manner.
