Education Program Coordinator - Canada Summer Jobs

Anticipated Start Date: July 7th, 2025
Time Commitment: 35 hours per week for 8 weeks
Compensation: $18.20/hour

Key Responsibilities
We are seeking one full-time Education Coordinator to support the delivery of educational programs, hands-on workshops, and farm/greenhouse maintenance activities. The role will focus on providing engaging learning experiences for youth and adults, supporting community-based workshops, and contributing to the upkeep of the Just Food Community Farm and greenhouse spaces (as 2 key sites for these activities).
- Program & Workshop Support

- Lead experiential workshops/programs for children, youth (ages 6 – 25) and adults on topics such as growing food, food literacy, sustainability, and environmental leadership.
- Support and implementation of hands-on educational programming and skill-building activities for one-day workshops and multi-week experiences.
- Coordinate workshop logistics, including registration, materials preparation, and setup/cleanup of workshop spaces.
- Conduct evaluations of workshops and programs to collect feedback for continuous improvement.

- Farm and Greenhouse Maintenance

- Participate in farm and greenhouse maintenance activities, including planting, weeding, watering, and harvesting microgreens and seedlings for use in both experiential learning and for donation to local community cupboards and seedlings for low-income households.
- Assist with preparing and maintaining learning spaces, such as garden beds, greenhouses, and workshop areas.
- Lead or support community volunteers with planting, monitoring, and harvesting tasks for food production initiatives.

- Community Engagement

- Engage diverse groups through inclusive, hands-on activities that foster learning and community participation, including an emphasis on delivering English, French and Arabic
- Support communications with participants, volunteers, and partner organizations to ensure smooth program operations.

- Administrative & Coordination Tasks

- Manage program materials, digital communications, and sign-out sheets for tools and equipment.
- Collaborate with supervisors and team members to coordinate program schedules and activities.
- Assist in producing post-workshop reports and documentation.
Qualifications and Skills:
- An individual with an interest in food systems, community education, and sustainable agriculture.
- Experience in leading educational activities or workshops for youth (6 and up) and adults.
- Experience or interest in farm, garden, or greenhouse work, with hands-on knowledge of plant care and food production.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across diverse communities, fostering inclusion and relationship-building.
- Experience using Google Docs, Sheets, and PowerPoint (or similar tools).
- Ability to resolve conflicts in a positive and professional manner.
- Creativity, initiative, and an eye for detail to plan and deliver high-quality workshops and programs.
- Previous experience or studies in agriculture, sustainability, food systems, or environmental education is an asset.
- Experience managing volunteers or community projects is an asset.
