Children’s Gardening Activities

Just Food and the Community Gardening Network invites you to come get your hands dirty and learn about how far your food has travelled, composting and what role bees and insects play in your garden! Free interactive activities for children ages 6-12 will be offered at various community gardens across the city between July 21st and August 15th. The following community gardens will be hosting children’s animation events:

  • Overbrook Community Garden (Brookies Camp)-Friday July 11th at 3:00 pm
  • Trinity Church Community Garden –Tuesday July 22nd at 11:00 am
  • Daily Bread Community Garden (in Carp) – Thursday, July 24th at 10:30am
  • Nanny Goat Hill Community Garden (Bronson & Laurier) Saturday July 26th at 11:00 am
  • Friendship Community Garden (Donald St. apartments camp)- Thursday July 31st at 10:30am
  • Centre des services communautaires Vanier camps (École Horizon Jeunesse)- Thursday July 31st at 1:00pm

Start-up Farm Program

Just Food established the Start-Up Farm Program to support new farmers in the Ottawa region. By offering access to land, shared infrastructure/equipment, and training, the program aims to enable more people in this region to start their own successful farm business.
