Goldenrod Community Garden

Located on NCC land, the garden contains a mixture of raised beds and accessible raised beds laid out in a grid around water tanks, compost bins and a small shed.

Jo-Jo’s Community Garden

Launched in 2017 by the Kassis family of Jo Jo’s Pizza, this garden design is in the style of a Potager (also known as a kitchen garden). This type of garden is a blend of vegetables, fruits, herbs, and cutting flowers.

Kitiganensag Community Garden

Kitiganensag, Algonquin for “little gardens,” is a community garden located on the Carleton University campus and is run by the Graduate Students’ Association. The garden promotes local, organic food production, education and community building. 

Nanny Goat Hill Community Garden

The Nanny Goat Hill Community Garden is located at the corner of Laurier and Bronson, right in the midst of Centretown Ottawa. The garden started in 2000, and has grown to be home to over one hundred plots.

Nepean Allotment Gardens Association

Tanglewood Park Community Garden is located behind the Tanglewood Community Centre, and offers both communal and allotment garden plots.

This is a communal growing space that has been used by community members to learn about growing food. This garden has 4 raised beds which are solely used for communal growing, and not available to rent for household growing opportunities.

The Children’s Garden is an educational garden demonstrating how food can be grown and enjoyed fresh in Ottawa. Our goal is to connect all people, and especially children, to fresh food and how it is grown, and to be a community hub where people gather.

Mechanicsville Innovation Garden (MIG)

The Mechanicsville Innovation Garden (MIG) is a small, communal garden (with no rented plots), located in the rear courtyard of Bayview Yards tended by MCA volunteers. In 2022, MIG grew approximately 250 litres (L) of produce for the Parkdale Food Centre and local residents. In 2023, MIG had produced approximately 221L of produce for the Parkdale Food Centre and with the apples harvested will easily surpass our 250L. Volunteers also delivered to the John Howard Society (JHS) residents, 2 Ottawa Community Housing (OCH) complexes and the Seniors at St. Vladimirs.  MIG also entered the 88.5 Radio station community garden contest and won $1K dollars in gift certificates to Ritchie Feed & Seed. We purchased some tools and plants and will keep the balance for future years.

Start-up Farm Program

Just Food established the Start-Up Farm Program to support new farmers in the Ottawa region. By offering access to land, shared infrastructure/equipment, and training, the program aims to enable more people in this region to start their own successful farm business.
